This competition will be held on Saturday 30th of September 3pm in the Main Arena. To purchase a ticket to this competition, you must also have an entry ticket to the event.

Maximum number of competitors? 15 in total (Junior and Senior)

What to wear?  Whatever is suitable for your routine.

What is the competition? This year our Liberty Competition will be divided into Three Sections (Round Yard, Half Arena and Full arena) along with Junior and Senior groups. Please note there are no compulsory moves this year. However there will be a video released explaining the judging criteria to determine degree of difficulty etc.

FULL ARENA – For horses and handlers who have an advanced liberty horse.

  • Open to anybody
  • Can have multiple horses, one handler only
  • Each person will have 7 Minutes this includes set up and pull down of obstacles (You can finish earlier, no penalty). However if you go over time judging will finish at 7 minutes.

Music must be provided 7 days prior to the event (details will be provided by email on how to do this). Competitors may ONLY work with one horse.  Competitors may apply to enter with one horse or with several. Only horses maybe entered, no other livestock. Competitors may choose to ride, work from the ground or both. In the case of multiple horses the lead ridden horse may be bridled. Horses may wear exercise boots. Whips are permitted. No halter or lead ropes. Neck ropes allowed for bareback riding. Bareback pads are allowed (no stirrups).

Competitors are to showcase their most creative and inspiring freestyle performance. The judging panel will signal the end of 7 minutes.

JUDGING: Judging criteria will be based on connection, body control, speed control, distance and degree of difficulty. Points are awarded for technical skills, creativity and overall quality of presentation. Points are accumulated and the winner is the trainer who accumulates the highest number of points.

Divisions for placings only:  Cowgirls Gathering Liberty Open Junior & Cowgirls Gathering Liberty Open Senior.

Junior Age 17 and under at the time of the event (must have parental permission to participate) | Novice – Any participant other than equine professionals | Senior (Open) – Anyone can enter.

Code of Conduct: All horses attending the event shall be treated humanely, with dignity, respect and compassion at all times. Please be on time for your run in your competition. Two gate calls and you will be considered a no-show and will forfeit fees.

When will the presentation be?  The presentation will be held on Saturday night on the Stage at 7pm (where the vendors, food and the band are).  You are responsibility for collecting any prizes at the event should you not be able to make the presentation.  You do not need to be at presentation, but it would be greatly appreciated.

What are the age restrictions? Minimum age is 12 years old at the time of the event. You can make an application to [email protected] if you feel someone under this age could attend the Junior event. Everyone under the age of 18 at the event must wear a helmet when handling any horse.

What if you can no longer make it? Please notify us via email us at [email protected] as soon as possible. If there is a waitlist your place will be offered to the next person on the waiting list, once paid then your refund will be given.  If there is no waitlist and you can find someone to take your ticket, we will do a name change for free but only up to 7 days ahead of the event.   If this occurs in the week leading up to or during the event, please report to the Education Headquarters and notify them of your withdrawal.

When do entries close? Entries will be closed when the allocation has been completed, once your order has been processed you will get a ticket number to the competition, and this confirms your allocation to the event.
