Race to Ranch is a fun, supportive competition designed exclusively for named Off-The-Track (OTT) horses who have been re-educated for a new life beyond the racetrack. It’s a celebration of transformation—highlighting the versatility, trainability, and heart of these incredible horses.
🐎 Who can enter?
Anyone riding a named OTT horse that has retired from a racing career and undergone re-education for a new discipline. Whether you’re just starting your post-racing journey or already out competing, Race to Ranch is all about encouraging progress and community.
🏆 What’s the purpose of the event?
To showcase the potential of OTT horses in a fun, friendly, and inspiring environment. It’s not just a competition—it’s a platform to tell your horse’s story and promote the value of giving these athletes a second chance.
🧡 What types of activities or challenges are involved?
Expect a variety of challenges that reflect real-world skills—think groundwork, trail tasks, ranch-style obstacles, and low-pressure ridden activities. Each task is designed to suit horses at different stages of their re-education journey. Full details of the challanges will be sent out leading into the event.
🧾 Does the OTT horse need to be officially named?
Yes. All horses entering must be named Off-The-Track Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds, with verifiable race records. This helps us honour and track their transition from racing to ranch life.
📍 Where is it held?
Race to Ranch is held in Kilkivan, Queensland, during the Cowgirls Gathering, from 3–5 October 2025. The venue provides a welcoming, regional setting that’s perfect for showcasing the progress of these horses in a safe and inspiring environment.
👥 Can I enter as a beginner rider?
Absolutely! Race to Ranch is open to riders of all levels. The focus is on partnership, communication, and celebrating how far you and your OTT horse have come—whether you’re just starting out or have been retraining for a while.

Yes!
