What to expect? Many equine sports have a roping element involved from ranch trail, rodeo roping and cowboy racing. It can be a fun and challenging skill to learn. It can be easier to learn than you may think. In this clinic we will be introducing our horses to the rope and learning to handle and throw a rope from horseback.
We will be covering how to handle your rope safely while on your horse, build a loop, practice roping a dummy and the basics of how to dally.
What to wear? Closed toe riding boots, Australian standard approved helmet compulsory if under 18 years of age.
What to bring? A rope if you have one. Sunscreen, hat/ helmet, horse and tack.
What tack do I need for my horse? What you normally ride in (you don’t need a special kind of saddle). All tack must be in good working order, safe and comfortable for both you and your horse. If you do not have safe appropriate gear the clinician has the right to ask you to replace the gear to be able to participate at their own discretion.
