Sophie is an accomplished, knowledgeable horsewoman and director of Sophie Babic Horsemanship. She grew up in Newcastle, in the
New South Wales Hunter Valley, started riding horses at the age of eight and was introduced to endurance two years later.

Sophie was introduced to horsemanship when she attended a Newcastle clinic with her own horse. It was there she met Dan Steers, of Double Dan Horse, and her interest in training was established.

That chance meeting led to employment with Double Dan for an eight-year period working alongside trainer Dan Steers and his veterinarian wife, Pia. During that time Sophie developed skills in breaking and training horses, instructing at clinic, knowledge of veterinary science, and business administration, all while continuing in tertiary study.

In 2017, Sophie’s passion for horses was confirmed as she graduated with a Bachelor of Equine Science degree from Charles Sturt University and in mid – 2020 she established her own breaking and training business – Sophie Babic Horsemanship.

Sophie is passionate about training young horses, liberty horses, challenge riding and campdrafting. Sophie passion may be with cow-horses however she enjoys working with a range of quality horses of all breeds from Thoroughbreds to Heavy Horses.
