Whether you’re stepping into the world of cattle events or refining your existing skills, the Cowgirls Gathering Mini is a focused, immersive experience designed to help you grow with your horse, your confidence, and your community.

  • Work with 5 incredible female instructors over 5 action-packed days

  • Small, focused groups (maximum 10 cowgirls) for personalised coaching

  • Sessions tailored to both horse and rider experience levels

  • Learn with and without horses and cattle, with sessions running from 1.5 to 3 hours

  • Bring one or two horses (no horse swapping during sessions)

  • End-of-day arena ride time, educator Q&As, and community storytelling

Dogs are welcome at the Mini Gathering only, with conditions:

  • Must be restrained at all times

  • Not permitted in food areas, main or campdraft arenas, or toilet and shower facilities

When and where is the Mini Gathering?

The 2026 Cowgirls Mini Gathering will be held at Kilkivan Showgrounds, Queensland, from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October 2026. Key times: Bump in from 12:00pm Sunday, Welcome dinner Sunday at 6:00pm, Bump out before 10:00am Saturday.

How does the program work?

Cowgirls are placed into small groups of no more than 10 and rotate through mounted and off-horse sessions across the week. This structure ensures personalised learning, fair access to educators, and strong horse welfare outcomes. What happens on Monday morning? The week begins with a whole-group welcome session outlining the program, group rotations, and expectations. What happens on Day 5? Friday includes a whole-group session in the morning & an optional friendly competition in the afternoon. Will I get time with every educator? Yes. Across the program, every cowgirl works with every educator through a mix of mounted and off-horse learning sessions.

Do I need to complete a waiver?

Yes. Everyone must complete a waiver and horse health declaration. No waiver, no entry. Only digital copies will be available at Headquarters if not completed ahead of time. Where do I check in? Once settled, head to Headquarters (bar area) to confirm your waiver and collect your wristband. Wristbands must be worn on your saddle for the duration of the event.

What should I bring?

Bring all camping equipment you’ll need for the week. For your horse, bring everything required, including Feed, Water buckets, Poo rakes, Your own yards (unless hiring). Are horse yards available for hire? Yes. Yards can be hired for $260 (including GST) for the full week. Size: 6.2m x 4.2m with a height: 1.8m (livestock panels). Hire details will be provided after ticket purchase. Can I buy hay at the event? Yes. Hay supplier details and pricing will be shared closer to the event.

Are meals included?

Yes. Your ticket includes all meals from Sunday dinner to Friday lunch. Dietary requirements must be submitted during nomination. What facilities are available? The showgrounds have, Toilets, Showers, Powered and non-powered camping. When in the “camping with power” area, please keep yards minimal so space can be shared fairly.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, with conditions. Dogs must be declared at Headquarters and must be restrained at all times Dogs are not allowed in dog-free areas. Failure to comply will result in removal. All dog liability rests with the owner. Are fires allowed? Fires are permitted only around the bar area. No fires are allowed in camping areas. Firewood will be supplied.

Are spectators or vendors allowed?

No. This is a participant-only event with no spectators or vendors. If you need to bring someone for setup or pack-down, please contact us before nominating. Can I ride with my phone? No. Please leave mobile phones at your trailer while riding. For urgent contact, use 0477 727 272. We will find you if needed.

What experience level is required?

All experience levels are welcome. Nomination questions help group riders for the best learning experience.

When do nominations open?

Nominations open at 9:00am on Tuesday 31st March 2026 via the Cowgirls Gathering website. This is a first in, best dressed process. 

What does my ticket include?

All meals (Sunday dinner to Friday lunch).  Camping and ground hire, cattle hire, mock competition entry, small group education (max. 10 riders), amazing educators.  Price:  $2,500 including GST.
